September 2005 (Palm Springs, Calif) — The continuing education of quality home inspectors is a priority commitment of the California real Estate Inspection Association. Beginning July 2005, CREIA and its 25 chapters throughout the state will be offering more that 275 technical-content chapter meetings (ranging 2-3 hours each), plus 50 plus day-long specialized training sessions (called “toolboxes”), as well as multi-day long statewide conferences twice a year

“The home inspector members of CREIA want to stay informed on the latest building technologies and updates affecting their home buying clients” says Bill Poulton, Chairman of the 1,200+ member organization. “With over 65,000 ‘pieces and parts’ in a typical home, there is a lot to keep current on,” continues Chairman Poulton, “of course, we can’t see through walls, furniture and floor coverings, but we can still provide a very informative and independent report for homebuyers”.

A professional home inspector needs to be familiar with general construction practices and maintenance. They also know how to spot clues about your home’s conditions. A fresh coat of paint could be a mere cosmetic touch or hiding a serious problem. The educated inspector can spot and review these clues and present a professional opinion as to the condition of the property. So whether it’s needed information on fireplaces, electrical panels, HVAC systems, pools, roofing issues, safety glazing, water heaters, plumbing systems, moisture intrusion, concrete concerns or the many, many other components and systems of a home, the CREIA inspector member will find many educational resources to maintain their needed level of knowledge to be the best for their clients.

Education of home inspectors is the primary mission of CREIA. The educational growth of the individual inspector through participation in membership activities, where the sharing of experience and knowledge results in the betterment of the home inspection profession and the overall protection of the consumer public.
