Inspector Education / CECs Opportunities

CREIA Annual Conferences
California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) holds an Annual Conference aiming for the site of the Conference to be on a north/south rotation whenever possible. The CREIA Annual Conference has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the most stimulating and worthwhile education opportunities for inspectors in California. Additionally, the Conference Committee also aims to provide networking opportunities, Associate certification required programs such as a Group Standard of Practice Report Review, and a robust tradeshow. Twenty to 30 CECs may be gained by attending fully in the Annual Conference. Attendance at the Conference automatically removes a member from CREIA's auditing process which takes place every month during renewals. We suggest all members attend the Conference for networking and education, all the while enjoying the different aspects of the real estate inspection community.

CREIA Chapters

CREIA chapters are located throughout the state. Most chapters hold monthly educational meetings and special event programs such as Group SOP event (Toolboxes). Each CREIA member is assigned to a local chapter. All Certified CREIA Inspector (CCI) and Master CREIA Inspector (MCI) members, Associate, Affiliates and prospective members/guests are invited to attend local meetings. Chapter meetings are an excellent way to meet and interact with peers, participate in educational programs, and market products and services to those in the inspection industry. Toolbox events are held by the CREIA Chapters that pay to have education reviewed and approved on your behalf which allow members to obtain CECs at a reduced cost. Members are required to attend two chapter meetings per renewal/year.

CREIA Educational Providers

Interested in partnering with CREIA for education? CREIA approved education consists of educational sources that have been reviewed and approved by the Chair of the CREIA Education Committee and the CREIA Board of Directors -- this is considered education that is "CREIA Approved." Affiliate members whose education is CREIA Approved also pay a fee to be reviewed and approved. There is no cost to the member looking to receive CREIA Continuing Education Credits from these sources. If an educational source is not "CREIA Approved" it does not necessarily mean that the education is inadequate, it simply means that they have not submitted their education.

To submit education for review, the educational source must apply to be an Affiliate member of CREIA and submit the education for review using the prescribed CEC review form and pay the CEC review fee. The only affiliation where CREIA waives the CEC review fee is the Premium Educational Affiliate Member. All other levels Affiliate membership pays $10 per CEC (Continuing Education Credit) or: # of CEUs/Hours x $10.

CREIA Educational, Reference & Exam Preparation Publications

The education of professional inspectors is the most important thing that we do. It is our primary mission. We seek to educate CREIA members on current construction, code, health and safety issues, as well as educating consumers about the value of a professional inspection. CREIA provides various kinds of educational programming including monthly chapter meetings, conferences, exam preparation materials, articles, online education and testing, technical information exchange forum (TIE), vendor resources and home-study products.

Currently, associate members receive the NHIE Exam study materials upon payment of application.

CREIA publishes its own inspector education products as well as provides discounts to members for commonly used reference and exam preparation materials — most educational products are available through our online store.
