CREIA's Strategic Plan Update: Making Progress
CREIA members met in January of 2015 to brainstorm and formulate the CREIA Goals and Objectives. We have sent periodic updates to the membership, most recently in the September 2015 edition of CREIA eNews; click here to review that publication. Here is a status report of the Strategic Plan as of September:
Communications
1. Encourage Members for Successful Completion of Certification and to Make the Process Manageable:
The CREIA Office continues to augment and clarify the membership sections of the Website and has included the addition of the promotional video, Why Join CREIA? Click here to view the video.
A Question/Answer section is listed in the eNews (which are also archived on the Website) -- such questions also compel a closer look at the certification programs.
2. Increase Communications between State and Chapters:
The listserv addresses are listed on the Member Landing page upon logging into the CREIA Website. Many chapter listservs are being utilized on a regular basis.
3. Communicate Vital Information
Communications/TIE/Participation: eBlasts called Did You See? have been created and are regularly sent to the membership highlighting TIE conversations and an invitation for members to participate.
Education Resources/More Opportunities
CREIA has begun developing its online platform.
 We are pleased to present, CREIA's Report Writing Standards, presented by Michael Casey. Click here for more information via the CREIA Website.
Other programs and activities are in the planning stages, including (public) educational videos and public service announcements geared to the public and the real estate community (which also promotes the CREIA Find-an-Inspector search and choosing a qualified home inspector). Certified Inspectors are invited to pitch in on this endeavor. Please contact the office at [email protected].

The CREIA office continues to work on providing chapter meeting information to members and in promoting such important networking to prospective and new members.

Leadership Day
Mark Your Calendar! Saturday, May 14, 2016!
New ideas are being brainstormed to change up Leadership Day. Information will be placed on thumb drives to make information as user-friendlier for leaders as possible.
Leadership Day is scheduled Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Northern California. (A CREIA Board meeting will be held the day prior on Friday, May 13, 2016).
CREIA Board Meeting and Leadership Day will be taking place in the San Jose/Santa Clara area. More information will be released very soon!
Marketing and Public Relations
Marketing/PR: CREIA participated during CAR's 2015 Expo and is already making plans for 2016 participation with all new banners, activities, collateral and volunteer instructions. CREIA is also gearing up for its exhibit during ASHI's IW.
Special thanks to Skip Walker and Steve Carroll for many hours of help in constructing a better plan for CREIA!
A press release was recently released to various newswires promoting CREIA's participation at the IW, tipping the public on how to choose a home inspector, and promoting the Find-an-Inspector search.
Website
The CREIA Office is continuing to develop and edit various aspects of the Website in conjunction with the Website and other committees as well as the Board of Directors.
In taking a closer look at the Website, the Committee and Board believe that Simple Machines is not the way to go for the TIE, but to continue to enrich the current TIE on the MemberClicks platform. There was too much unrecoverable information missing. Most recently, the Website will transition into a more fluid, responsive platform. More news on this to come.

CREIA's Education Committee and Sub Committees have been noses to the grindstone!
This year marks the 40-year anniversary for ASHI as well as CREIA. CREIA decided to partner with ASHI in promoting ASHI's InspectionWorld in January 2016 and to push the CREIA 2016 Annual Conference to September 2016 and offering a larger and more diverse conference.
Sessions and speakers are being scheduled now.

 Q: How do I look up the CEC information I submitted?
A: To locate your CECs, you will need your username and password. Go to www.CREIA.org, press on Inspector Login or click here to get directly to the login portal (you may want to bookmark this portal).
The browser will direct you to the member landing page. Click the first link under Quick Links called Profile & CEC Status. This link will take you to your member profile your cursor over the tab My Profile and click on View Transactions. Here is where you will be able to view all of your form submissions, including CECs, CREIA Conferences, surveys, etc.
You may also want to keep track of your CECs by filing your CEC submission form confirmation emails, which are sent to your primary email address in your profile upon submitting a CEC Report form.
CEC Submission Forms are also located under Quick Links on the member landing page. Here is where you would log your CECs into your profile.
Q: How do I get answers to my questions about home inspection?
A: One of the most valuable CREIA member benefits is the CREIA Technical Information Exchange (TIE). The purpose of the TIE is to educate members by sharing technical aspects of real estate inspections and providing an archival collection of information free of extraneous content.
The CREIA TIE is available through the CREIA website at www.CREIA.org. At the top-right of the toolbar on the main page, click "Login." Enter your username and password. If you forgot your password, you may click "Forgot Password" and an email will be sent to you to reset your password. If you need any help with your username and password, you may also contact the CREIA office.
Upon logging in, you will be directed to the Member Landing page. Under the toolbar in the gray section, you will see several links. Click on CREIA TIE & ASK.
Members may post comments or reply to other threads, but members should be mindful that comments should be free of extraneous content. Members should limit the content of their posts/comments/replies with this in mind and refrain from drifting from the topic of the original post. Members may attach PDFs or pictures in conjunction with their content.
Members may earn CECs upon posting content deemed worth hours of study. Requests for CECs should be sent to [email protected]. The Education Committee Chair will review the activity and will note whether or not CECs can be granted. Please note, there will be a limit of CECs earned for online activities, which is under review.

We are now accepting nominations for the CREIA Chapter of the Year, Jerry McCarthy Inspector Fellow of the Year, and Bob Reed Inspector of the Year Award.
Please review the criteria below and send us an email at [email protected] with your nomination(s) along with a paragraph or two letting us know why the nominee(s) is deserving of the award. CREIA Chapter of the Year Award:
Eligibility: Any CREIA Chapter
Selection criteria:
This award honors a Chapter, which has excelled in programs and activities. The purpose of this award is to encourage growth of the Chapters, to recognize educational and outreach efforts, and to show appreciation for volunteer efforts at the Chapter level. All CREIA Chapters are considered and size of a Chapter is not a factor. The Chapter selected will receive an award, plus an appropriate gift to be determined by the Board. The recipient is selected by majority vote of the Board with the following factors being considered:
Number of Chapter meetings held
Pre-chapter meeting roundtable programs
Chapter toolboxes held
Volunteer at local RELATOR and consumer shows
Ratio of Candidates upgrading to CCI status
Ratio of CCIs upgrading to MCI status
Overall Chapter growth
Chapter Newsletter
Public relations & marketing efforts
Charitable efforts
Candidate Mentoring Program
Chapter Leadership
Jerry McCarthy Inspector Fellow Award:
Eligibility: Any individual, including individuals who are not members of CREIA.
Selection criteria:
A person who has provided outstanding service to CREIA for 10 or more years.
The award recognizeds longstanding quality commitment, contribution, and leadership to CREIA and the real estate inspection profession. The recipient is selected by a 2/3 vote of the Board. Recipients of the Jerry McCarthy Inspector Fellow Award who are CREIA members receive a lifetime reduction in dues, as established by the Board.
Bob Reeds Inspector of the Year:
Eligibility: Any "newer" CREIA inspector member.
Selection criteria:
A "newer" CREIA inspector member who has excelled in most years in contributing to CREIA and the real estate inspection profession. The recipient is selected by majority vote of the Board.
